This past weekend, Ryan painted our "color tryouts" on the nursery wall. We are leaning towards the green at the bottom and maybe the border 3/4 of the way up and then changing to blue. Any suggestions? Our quilt is a couple of posts below if you want to compare it to the colors.

Our 4th Anniversary
On Thursday we celebrated our 4th Anniversary. It is hard to believe that 4 years ago we rejoiced in our wedding vows and promised ourselves to each other for eternity. Time goes by so quickly that it is hard to keep up. Ryan took off Thursday and Friday which was so great. But, here I am blogging on Sunday night wondering where did the time go, as we both have to get ready to go back to the real world tomorrow as working folks. I tell Ryan that I am attached to him and I wish we could spend every second together. I guess we are blessed to want to spend all our time together. In our 4 years together, our love has grown and blossomed into a simple dependency in each other. I am sure all you married folk get what I am rambling on about... All I have to say is that I am thankful for the blessing of Ryan in my life, as he has fulfilled my dreams and made me whole.
This was the first anniversary that we have celebrated in the snowy north. Every other anniversary we have travelled to a southern destination. This year we were thinking of going away but I chickened out, being pregnant and all, I didn't want to be in another country and have something go wrong. So we went up to Frankenmuth Michigan for a night and stayed at the Bavarian Inn in a whirlpool suite. We enjoyed the famous chicken dinner and swimming in the pool as well as swimming in the whirlpool in our room. We then came home and rented 4 movies and spent Saturday in our PJ's watching movies. It was a great weekend, that flew by too fast. Now I don't think that Ryan will have time off until the babe is born :( That is another thing that will be upon us before we know it. Why does time fly by so fast??

Weight gain and Low Lying Placenta
Excitement to weight gain is a new phenomenon for most women. This is a phenomenon that I experienced today as I am finally back to my starting pregnancy weight. The funny thing is that when my doctor walked in and I said to him excitedly "I have gained weight!" He felt the need to tell me that over the holidays things like this happen and that it isn't a concern. I guess most women are upset when they put on 8 pounds since last visit, 4 weeks ago. Then he realized that I had been steadily loosing weight and he is excited as well. He says to me "That's great! We wanted to fatten you up didn't we?" So that made me happy.
The babe's heart rate was 150 today. The babe is a determined soul, constantly trying to stay away from the Doppler and moving away constantly. I guess you could say the babe is a shy soul.
Then my doctor told me that my placenta is "low lying" and that he will repeat my ultrasound at 28 weeks to see where it is. He really didn't make it out to be that big of a concern. A low lying placenta is when the placenta is lying in the lower aspect of the uterus, close to the cervix. Normally the placenta should be higher up. This becomes a concern especially if it is over the cervix, which he said mine is not. After 28 weeks, if the placenta remains to be near the cervix then you are diagnosed with Placenta Previa which is something that I am hoping won't be the case. Placenta Previa brings the concerns on excessive bleeding and usually means a c-section. I am hopeful that my placenta will migrate upwards, and this will no longer be a concern. As I said, the doctor didn't make this out to be a great concern at this time. Come 28 weeks we will have another ultrasound and see whats going on. I look at it as another chance to get to see how the babe is doing. I love when Ryan and I get to see the babe via ultrasound.

The begining of the Nursery
Well, we have started shopping for the"babe" and our first decision we wanted to make was to figure out what we wanted to do with the nursery. So off we headed to "Babies R Us". This store the baby version of Toys R Us, with all the baby gear that you could ever imagine. We spent over two hours roaming around the store looking at things, trying to make sense of it all. Trying to figure out what would be the must need items and what would be the things you would waste money on. We looked at strollers, bouncy chairs, play yards, cribs, change tables, and layettes. Then we ran into a manager who decided to see if we had any questions. Oh yeah, did we have questions. So she gave us some great pointers and even told us she had just marked down 12,000 dollars worth of crib linens and sent us in that direction. Once we got over there, we saw one of the patterns that we had both looked at before on our initial visit to Babies R Us and now it was on clearance. So we decided that we would go ahead a purchase all that we could of it since it is very neutral and can work well for a boy or a girl. It is called "Barnyard" and is made by Kidsline. Here is a picture of the quilt.
Once I got home I found more items on line and have since then purchased some more. Here is the hamper that I got yesterday. Isn't is adorable.?
Now, we have to decide what colors we are going to use for the paint. I am looking forward to working on the babe's room. It is going to be so much fun preparing for this little being.

Happy New Year 2008
We woke up to 2008 with a white blanket of snow. Luckily neither one of us had to work today. Rather it is New Years Day, a day of college football in the Hewlett household. We went out this morning and got the snow cleared. Rather, Ryan cleared the snow I just puttered around in the snowy wonderland. Here are some pictures of our snowy world. Fresh snow makes everything so pretty. It reminds me of how pretty our wedding day was.
Here is our cardinal amongst the snow covered bushes.
Wishing everyone a wonderful year in 2008.
