More Pics of Lyla

Here are some more photos of Lyla - enjoy!

Here is our Memorial Day photo - it was 80 degrees and we were able to take Lyla outside.

Getting ready for her first tub bath. She LOVED the bath - thanks Grandma Hewlett for the bath tub! Lyla and Daddy playing - or shall I say, Lyla has Daddy wrapped around her finger already.
Here is my girl in her favourite shirt - "I love mommy".
Sleeping after a stroll..

Stay at home mom

Well, I have started my role as a stay at home mom - at least for the next 10 weeks. Unfortunately I will be back to work come August 3rd. This is a hard thing to take when all my friends from Ontario get an entire year off. I yearn for that time off as I am already dreading the date of the 3rd of August.

I am loving my time with Lyla. Granted, there are times when I am frustrated and tired and wondering what my little girl needs but overall I just love having time with my babe. I love holding her in my arms when she is sleeping and just looking at her in awe.

Anyways, last week we went to the doctor for a follow up check up. At that time, Lyla was 6 pounds 13 ounces. She was 20 inches at that time. They were happy with that growth.

On Monday afternoon, Lyla started a growth spurt. Yesterday Lyla wanted to eat all the time. She would not nap longer than 30 minutes and then she would want to eat again. Needless to say it was a tiring day for both Lyla and myself. Today she is more like herself and we were able to enjoy the weather by going outside for a walk.

Well, I hear my girl.. gotta run...

Lyla - Love at First Sight

There is no other way to describe the way that you feel when you have a baby other than love at first sight. Our little girl is keeping us very happy and making us appreciate all that our good fortune has given us. She is doing very well and we are learning how to read her cries and cues to be able to fill her needs.

Here is one of my favourite picture of our Lyla Grace Ann. She looks so peaceful and angelic.

Here is the proud Daddy at the hospital, getting ready for us to go home

Here is Lyla getting dressed to go home.

Here is a picture of our family with the decorations that Ryan bought before we went to the hospital. Ryan went out the day before and bought banners and signs for both boy and girl. He then got his mom to put them up before we came home. My mom and dad snuck in the bows, in the pouring rain, which are our wedding bows - such a nice touch!
Pretty in pink - finally we went out and bought some PINK clothes for Lyla. Seeing that we didn't know what the babe was going to be we have a lot of yellow and green clothes. We were excited to put her in some girl clothes. This is a photo taken in the wee hours of the night. Lyla has fallen asleep on Dad's chest and I love this photo because she has her head resting on her arm like she is waiting for someone.
Here we are - the happy family. We have had a great 11 days, and I am sad to think that my partner and my love is going back to work on Tuesday. Ryan has shown to everyone around that he is a great father. The look in his eyes when he looks at Lyla, and the sound of his voice when he talks with her, the kisses and hugs he gives her, makes me realize how lucky I am to have Ryan by my side. I couldn't do this with out him, and I wouldn't want to, we have had a lot of laughs and fun - making this the best 2 weeks of my life.

I will post more stories after Ryan has returned to work on Tuesday. I plan to fill you in on the labor of Lyla, however, I want to enjoy our family time right now. Talk to you soon....

Pregnancy photos

Here is a montage of some photos taken in the last couple of weeks. Some, of course, include the famed belly shots.

On Friday, I went out and got my hair and nails done. I figured it may be one of the last times I can do something like that for a while. Ryan then took me out for dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse - again possibly the last time for a fancy night out on the town for a while. It was really nice and really yummy. Here we are at the restaurant.

This is me and the babe in my dress for the night out - oh yeh, and my swollen feet.
Ryan and I.
During the last week in April, my work had a shower for me. Again, we were spoiled with many gifts of generosity. This is the cake from the shower. Not only was it super cute it was really yummy too!
Some of my friends from work.
And here it is, the belly in full effect.

These last couple of weeks are the torture that I have heard about. We are just playing the waiting game. It is like sitting at an airport waiting for a plane to arrive, but you don't know the arrival time. I went to the MD's yesterday and I am 2 cm dilated and 50 % effaced, and the baby has moved down to station -1! So we are hoping that things will get going soon. Who knows, maybe I will be a mom for mother's day!
