The Babe's Room Continued

This past week the babe did quite well again with purchases made in it's honor. My parent's came and visited us and bought us the crib that we wanted for the nursery. We put it together in a flash and it looks great in the room. A lot larger than it looked in the store's display room, but still looks great. I haven't washed the bed linens yet so I haven't got a photo with it all dolled up, but here it is as it looks now.

Then today, Ryan and I headed out to Lowes and bought some supplies to work on the babe's closet to make more room in it. I think we did a great job, and it gives us more space. The cubby holes are great, since we are not going to buy a dressor rather, we are going to buy a change table with baskets instead.

We also put up a new curtain rod and hung up our valence.

Next we will have to put up the wallpaper border. The Sherman William's paint guys told us to wait 2 weeks before we put up the border to ensure the paint was cured, so we will do that in a week or so.

The babe up close

Today we went for our follow up ultrasound and great news - no placenta previa!! We are very happy and excited. The babe is now 2 pounds 11 ounces, and the heart rate was 150. Our clinic got a new utrasound machine which does 3d/4d pictures of the be, so here they are. The babe was not in the ideal position but you can definitly see the little being inside me.
To make things better, we went and got our taxes done and we are getting a return this year!
Today was a good day. I think we will go put together the babe's crib.

Painted Walls

I worked all weekend so Ryan took the opportunity to paint while I was out of the house. He finished last night and it looks great. He did an amazing job. Here is a picture of the walls without the border, that will be the next step.

Today my parents are coming and we are going to buy the furniture for the babe - the crib and probably the change table/dressor. I am excited about this as things are starting to fall into place.

The babe has been very active lately. Moving around quite a bit. We go tomorrow for the ultrasound to check the placenta location, so keep your fingers crossed for us and hope it has moved. We are both looking forward to seeing the babe again.

I went to the dermatologist who took a look at my rash and said not to worry, it is just eczema. I have some cream that will hopefully help with it. So for everyone that thought that I had PUPPP, it is not that, he said that for sure. We had read that if I had PUPPP there was a 70% chance that the baby was a boy. So, I guess that my rash isn't going to be the determining factor for the sex of the babe. Then I went and had my blood glucose test done, and scored an 81. So no gestational diabetes, which is great. Rather I had a hypoglycemic attact after the test and after grocery shopping. I felt really shaky and hot and had to eat something before I could even drive. It is so interesting how your baby responds differently to things when you are pregnant.

Anyways, that is what we have been up to. Hope you are all fine and dandy.

The Line-up

Here are some photos I just found tonight that I thought were pretty funny of our nephew Matthew and his cowboy hat, our neices Emily and Jillian.

Pictures

Here are some pictures from our recent baby purchases. We did put them together without much problems. Can't wait to use them!

Here is the play yard. See the change table to the right and the bassinett is set up right now.

Here is Daddy Ryan practicing his strolling moves with our new Chicco Stroller.

And, here is a picture of my growing belly.

Prenatal Visit # 6

Yesterday when I was at work, I suddenly felt horrible. Weak, hot, sweaty, pale and nauseated. Doesn't that paint a pretty picture. So anyways, I ended up loosing my lunch and came home early. Today I stayed home to rest and recover and decided to see if I could get into see my MD today rather than tomorrow, since tomorrow is his "on-call" day, and you never know how long you are going to hang out waiting. So I got in to see him today and here is the low down from my visit.

He thinks I may have been fighting off a virus yesterday, but isn't totally sure. I think it could be either that or that I just have wried anatomy/ weak stomach. Seeing that my small intestine narrows and this baby just loves to hang out so high I wondered if the baby was pushing on my stomach yesterday after I had eaten lunch, making me feel horrible and leading me to get sick. Either one is an option but I was glad I just laid low today as I haven't had much of an appetite since I was sick yesterday, which is so unusal as I have been straving.

He is going to repeat my ultrasound on February 20th to check my placenta. I have to go for my glucose tolerence test anytime now. I got the paperwork. I figure I will just do it someday I am at work, so I don't have to come in special for it.

He is not sure about my continued rash on my belly. He would like me to go see a Dermatoligist to see what it is. I asked him if he thought it was Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy, which usually affect women in their 3rd trimester and occur along stretch marks, and seeing that I don't meet either of those qualifications, he said he wasn't sure. So tomorrow I have to make an appointment for that.

Otherwise things looked good. My blood pressure was good, the babe's heart rate was about 147. I had gained 3 pounds. Things are all looking fine.

Now for the incidient that occured at the clinic today.

The medical tech comes and gets me from the waiting room and takes me and weighs me in. After I saw that I have gained my 3 pounds since last visit she sends me into the bathroom to get me to do the routine pee in the cup. When I come back to the room, she is already there, waiting for me. She goes out of the room to get the lab form form my glucose test. I hop up onto the exam table and she turns to me and says; "So, are you having a baby boy?"

I was shocked and turn to her and say "WHAT? Are you telling me I am having a baby boy?!?! Because I don't know the sex of the baby. We decided not to find out."

She looked a little taken aback at my questions. She kinda laughed at me, and replied "OH NO, I am not saying that you are having a baby boy. I just thought you look like a boy." She is pointing at my belly.

Now, I am not falling for this. I say to her" Listen, I know that the sex of the baby is somwhere in my chart, So are you saying it is a boy?"

She replies "No, they don't report the sex in your file. So we don't even know what you are having. All I was saying, is that some mothers know, be it from the scan or be it from their intuition, and I thought you looked like a boy. Now all you want is a healthy baby right. It doesn't matter if it is a boy or a girl does it?"

"No it doesn't." I say, still not convinced. She then takes my blood pressure and she wonders why it is 120/66 when I normally run in the 90's. That is because she just gave me a figgen heart attack. I considered asking my doctor if the sex is in my chart just to see if she was lying. But, then I decided I would be finding out the truth, and ultimately the sex of the babe. I will believe her this time, because I still want to have the thrill of the surprise.

Shopping for the babe

I never knew the addiction of baby stores until I became pregnant. You know how they say pregnant women get cravings, well I actually "crave" BabiesRUs. Isn't that unbelievable? A couple of weeks ago, I just HAD to go. Not that I needed anything or was really going to accomplish anything. It was just the fact that I had to go see if anything had changed since I had last been there. I think that I have been there at least 4 times in the last two weeks. And then if you were to count the number of times that I am on BabiesRUs website I think you would all be scared for me. Not to mention, that I can now recognize the store' s phone number on our call display when they call. As Ryan says, the babe is really "cleaning up" in regards to the purchases made in our household, as usually something seems to sneak its way back home with me. We went last night after work, and even though I am still in my P.J.'s under a blanket of new snow, I would go out in a heart beat if Ryan asked me if I wanted to go. I really think I have an addiction problem, has anyone heard of any support group for such a problem???

So what have we bought you ask? Last night we bought a couple of big purchases. We bought our "Travel System", which to an unpregnant person that is the stroller and the car seat. We also bought our "Play yard". To anyone circa 1980s, that is a playpen of now, equipped with a change table, vibrating bassinett, playpen area, mobile, shade, music,- the works. We had a couple of coupons so we decided we might as well go out and purchase some of the bigger items. We saved about 70 dollars, which I thought was pretty good. I am sure that 70 dollars will end up back invested in BabiesRUs but at least we will have another item for it. Other than that, I have purchased some clothing and you all saw the linens and stuff for the babe's room.

Now we have to decide if we are up the challenge of assembling these items that are currently sitting in our kitchen in their large boxes. It might be kinda fun. Now, I am sure all our you parents out their are laughing at me, as usually the assembly process is a frustrating process where you end up yelling at the instructions for being incompetent. But I am an eager first timer, and anything to do with the babe just makes me smile. And to see the babe's stuff making its way into our home makes me realize how someday soon the life of the Hewletts will be changed forever - for the good.

As a side note that has nothing to do with shopping, but rather a generalized babe update, I wanted to let you all know that I am feeling great. Maybe a little tired this week but the nausea and vomiting has stayed away. I can't get over two things. The first one is the hunger that I feel. I am hungry all the time. I could eat a meal and then a half hour later I am thinking about what I want to eat again. The second is the constant motion that the babe is doing. Sometimes I feel like I am on the loca-motion. I feel a lot of movement, kicking, punching, squirming, everything which is so cool. Now I can understand how people enjoy being pregnant.
