Fun Times with Lyla

So, as we near the one month mark of Lyla's life (I can't believe how fast time flies!), I could not imagine life without my little girl.

This Wednesday Lyla will turn one month. She has changed so much since her birth day. She is sleeping during the night very well. Usually she sleeps in 4 hour chunks which is great for us. She usually has 3 of these 4 hour spans of sleep in the night and she usually goes back to sleep pretty easy. During the day, she is a huge fan of the cat nap. She will only sleep about an hour before she is up wanting to eat again. It does seem like she is getting herself into a routine.

She is starting to focus more on our faces when we are talking with her. She has the funniest expressions, the half smile, the "oh" face, the furrowed brow, and of course her upset face. I think she is starting to coo a bit, every now and then you hear "ohhs, and ahhs". I am waiting with anticipation for when she smiles at us and it isn't a result of gas.

She is very active and enjoys playing on her play mat. Today I put her in her crib and turned on her mobile and she thought that was the coolest thing. She was huffing and puffing and moving her legs and arms in excitement.

We think that she is at least 8 pounds in weight. We measured her length and she was 21 inches, so she has gained another inch. She is quickly growing out of her newborn clothes. She is already out about half of the newborn clothes, and is now wearing the 0 to 3 month clothes. Speaking of clothes, little girl clothes are so cute!

Lyla enjoys going for strolls with us. We like to go daily to allow her to get some fresh air. Yesterday we went out about 3:00, and no one was outside. I even made a comment to Ryan that it seemed really quiet. About 2 hours later the wind picked up, the whole house shook and we were heading to the basement. Withing minutes we heard the Tornado Sirens, luckily we did not have any damage - at least I don't see any damage from the windows - but there were many trees uprooted and houses damaged in the area. There is 90, 000 people in our county without power still today. I was pretty scared, I had never heard the tornado sirens in action before. We hear it once a month as a practice siren but not as the real thing. When you have a little one, it makes you more nervous because you don't want anything bad to happen to her. Today we are still under watch for severe thunderstorms, so we are just staying in. The scary thing about yesterday was that it came so quick.

Anyways, that is what we have been up to the last couple of days, basically enjoying each other and loving our time together. Well, it has been about a half an hour and I hear my babe rooting around in the play yard, so I imagine she will be up soon.
